WE ARE HIRING!

Are you covered for specialised dentistry?

Of the few Dental Insurance Providers on the market in South Africa these days, there are some who offer ‘specialised dentistry’ cover in their dentistry plans.

Firstly, what is basic dentistry?

This is also referred to as conservative dentistry, which is the straightforward diagnosis, prevention and treatment of tooth and gum diseases.

Basic dentistry also covers tooth repair procedures, fillings, root canals and all other familiar procedures like extracting teeth.

Anything specialised and extra is always a welcome addition for any policy holder, but what exactly does ‘specialised dentistry’ entail?

Well, each policy provider will cover its own set of procedures under this term.

It could refer to any minor improvements such as crowns or veneers, bridges or tooth whitening.

Specialised dentistry is essentially any procedure which is necessary, but not cosmetic.

Affinity Dental gives you access to over 5000 practices and 2000 dentist rooms on our provider network, to find the dentist that is right for you.

An example of a specialised dentist is Orthodontists. They are specially trained dentists who specialize in the development, prevention, and correction of irregularities of the teeth, bite, and jaws. Orthodontists also have specialized training in facial abnormalities and disorders of the jaw.

A paediatric dentist specialises in the development of the mouths and jaws of children.

Endodontists have undergone specialized training in performing root canal therapy, which you can read more about here.

Dynamic Dental further explains; “Periodontists are responsible for the care and prevention of gum-related diseases, guided bone regeneration, and dental implants. It is the specialty of dentistry that includes the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the supporting and surrounding tissues of the teeth or their substitutes, and the maintenance of the health, function, and aesthetics of these structures and tissues.”

Contact Affinity Dental’s call Centre and find out what specialised dentistry is covered in the Silver, Gold and Platinum plans, and choose the cover that it right for you.
